I’m Andy. I have strong opinions, unfinished ideas, and no interest in pretending I’ve figured everything out. I write about things I understand, things I’m trying to understand, and things people seem far too certain they understand. Agree with me or don’t. I’d rather make you think than convince you I’m right. I hope you leave this site thinking a little harder and feeling a little deeper than when you arrived. If you’re looking for easy answers and comfortable conclusions, there’s plenty of internet for that elsewhere.
My writing
I write about things that take up space in my brain: technology, business, family, grief, belief, mental health, politics, fiction-ish stories, and whatever else refuses to leave me alone.
Mostly, I write to understand it. To pull ideas apart, question my own assumptions, and figure out why I believe what I believe.
My work
I build software, infrastructure, products, and businesses. I care about architecture, security, reliability, and whether something actually works. But systems are never just technical. I’m just as interested in the incentives behind them, who owns the decisions, and who carries the consequences when those decisions are wrong.
These days, much of that happens through Salixia, where those things increasingly blur together.
